The story

Problem, approach, and the outcome

About the client

The client is a premium real-estate platform offering fractional ownership of bayside residences to qualified investors. Selling a share of a physical asset on-chain means the token has to carry real legal and regulatory weight, not just represent an abstract balance.

They needed ownership contracts that enforced compliant transfer rules and kept a tamper-proof record of title, so that both investors and regulators could trust what the tokens actually represented.

The challenge

Fractional property ownership is only credible if transfers respect who is permitted to hold a share. An open, freely tradable token would have breached the compliance rules the platform sells against, so permissioning had to be enforced in the contract itself.

Title records also had to be authoritative and tamper-proof, since a dispute over who owns what fraction of a residence is exactly the kind of failure that would sink investor confidence. The on-chain record needed to be the source of truth, not a copy of one.

All of this had to reach mainnet inside a fixed launch window tied to the platform's go-to-market. There was no room for a slipped date or a security scramble late in the build.

Our approach

We implemented ownership on the ERC-3643 permissioned-token standard, so identity and eligibility checks are enforced on every transfer and non-compliant transfers simply cannot execute. Building compliance into the token is what makes fractional ownership defensible rather than aspirational.

Title records were anchored on-chain with ERC-721, giving each residence a unique, tamper-proof ownership entry that the platform and its investors can rely on. We deployed on Polygon to keep transaction costs low enough for fractional trading to make economic sense.

We worked to a tight, security-first schedule, sequencing the compliance logic, title records, and transfer restrictions so the suite reached mainnet on time without cutting corners on testing. Fractional ownership went live inside the launch window.

Results
  • Fractional ownership live on mainnet within the launch window
  • Compliant transfer restrictions enforced in-contract via ERC-3643
  • Tamper-proof on-chain title records for every residence
  • Deployed on Polygon for fractional-trading-friendly costs
